Work Samples welcome greeting Spelling List

Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome you to the 2008-2009 school year. I look forward to working with you this year.

Each week the spelling words for the week will be displayed on our web page. I will also select samples of student writing for all of you to enjoy. I will let you know in my Parent Letter when I begin to add student creative writing samples. I will also try to include photos of various activities we do in Room 2A throughout the year.

This week we will do activities that celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany and we will talk about this Sunday which is the Feast of the Baptism of Jesus. This will mark the end of the Christmas season. I want to thank you for the many ways you showed your kindness during this Christmas season.

Thank you for your contributions to the door contest. Room 2A was very generous and I was so proud of my students! The money our school raised will be donated to various charities. I also need to thank you for the wonderful baby items you sent for our birthday party for Jesus. I was overwhelmed with your generosity and the people at Birthright are always so happy to receive the donated items from the IC school children. Our mitten tree was overloaded with scarves, hats, and mittens. The children who received these cold –weather items were thrilled with the gifts from the IC students.

Our Christmas Party was perfect this year. Thank you to Mrs. Baker for planning the party and to Mrs. Sanders for bringing in such a beautiful birthday cake. I want to thank Mrs. Bentley for providing drinks. I would also like to thank Mrs. Bailey for the paper products and the candy cane treat for each student. It is so good for our children to focus on giving instead of receiving and they did a great job with this at our party. Big thanks to the moms who were there to help J

You will notice on the homework calendar that the book report assigned for this month is a poetry book. Please refer to the separate letter which explains this month long assignment.

For those parents whose child will be receiving First Communion at IC Parish there is a very important meeting for parents this Wednesday evening at 6:30 in the Community Room. Hopefully at least one parent can be there for the meeting. If not, please contact the Parish Office.

I know I thanked you in a previous letter, but I want to again say thank you for the Christmas greetings, cards, gifts, and especially the generous Teacher Purse gift. I appreciate your kindness and I ask God to bless you and your families in the year 2009!
