Mrs. Pruett’s Preschool News

Week of: May 5- 8
Monday:
Our stories of the day were, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and A Mother
for Coco. We were busy
finishing up our zebra project today.
We also worked on the first step of our Mother’s Day card…cutting out the
flower pot. The children added
eyes, antennae, and feet to their colorful caterpillars.
These are being used for a hall bulletin board.
Tuesday:
Today we cut and assembled our Weekly Reader.
The children really “took off” with the rhyming word idea!
We had fun “reading” words that were part of the same family (cat, sat,
bat…). I would write words on the
white board and try to “trick” the kids, but they were way too smart.
They were able to read almost every word I wrote!
We did the second step of the card today, painting the roses, using a
celery stalk, and adding the words inside the card.
Wednesday:
We read a book that made us laugh pretty hard… the P.D. Eastman story
called, Are You my mother?
Ask you child about the “SNORT”! We
finished up our cards today, adding the green stems and gluing the flower pots
on.
Thursday:
Thank you to Mrs. Messerly
for reading in the library once again!
We read a sweet felt board story in class called, “Waiting for Wiggles”.
We also did a “Seeds” religion lesson today.
NOTES
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the sweet mamas in our class!
We hope you enjoy the beautiful card you little one made for you!
Parent Evaluations of Preschool
were sent home with your child on the 5th.
Please take the time to complete and return these.
Your feedback is very valuable to us.
Portfolios will be coming home for the final time next week.
These little treasures are for you to keep, as a memento of your child’s
preschool experience. You’ll
notice that we’ve not added quite as much “stuff” this quarter.
This is due to the art gallery unit, which we worked on for several
weeks. The art portfolio is the
bulk of our 4th quarter work!
