Mr. Casalo
This is my thirty-fifth year of teaching and my twenty-third year at SCHS. I have undergraduate degrees in Studio Arts, Art History, and Asian Studies and a Masters Degree in Education from Drury University. I have a second Masters Degree in History from Missouri State University. REGARDING STUDIO GRADING FOR CLASSES IN THE ART DEPARTMENT: The letter "P" represents PORTFOLIO GRADING for mid-quarter progress reports in art classes. Portfolio grading signifies the assignments are works in progress. This grade is used in art classes which do not have daily or weekly homework, quizzes, or tests. Instead, these classes have activities and projects which take weeks or months to complete. Evaluation in these classes involves curriculum with an emphasis on critique, discussion, and individualized instruction. Portfolio grading is not pass or fail; if your son or daughter receives a "P" grade, this means they have a B or better. If the student has a B- or lower, they will be given that grade in order to recognize their deficiencies. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions between grading periods.
