Standardized Test Scores
Students in the 2nd through 8th grade are annually administered the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, a nationally normed standardized test. Using National School Norms, the average composite total was above the 86th percentile at every grade level

Duke University Talent Identification Program
- Based on standardized scores, 53% of SCS 7th graders qualified to take the SAT or ACT college entrance exams
- 14 students scored above the national high school average on one or more sections of the ACT or SAT and received State Recognition
- Two students scored better than 90% of college bound juniors and seniors and qualified for Grand level or National Recognition.

Excellence in Science
- SCS students won eight of twelve First Place Division Awards
- SCS students won 43 of the 65 placement awards for first, second, third, and fourth place
- SCS students won 40 additional Special Awards

Excellence in Mathematics
- Received individual and team division awards from Mathfax, a nationwide competition for students in grades 4-6
- Advanced to the state level of MathCounts with both team and individual qualifiers - MathCounts is a national competition geared for grades 6-8 and sponsored by NASA, 3M, Texas Instruments, and the National Society of Professional Engineers
- Placed several students in the top 8% of the Math Olympiad Program, a worldwide competition with 150,000 participants
- Advanced to the state level of the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM) competition in Grades 7 & 8 with both team and individual qualifiers - A SCS team took 1st place in the regional competition, and SCS students received individual state honors for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
- SCS teams won 1st place regional honors in grades 7 and 8 and advanced to the state level of the Missouri Mathematics League – With approximately 60 schools participating at each grade level 6-8, SCS teams placed 5th and 8th in the state. Two students placed in the top ten, scoring 3rd and 8th in the state.
- Won the team Grand Prize at the 1A/2A level of the College of the Ozarks Junior High Math League and ranked first of all participating schools regardless of size

Excellence in Language Arts
- A SCS student won the City Utilities Clean Water Poster Contest
- A SCS student won the “Smoking is Not for Me” essay contest sponsored by the Greene County Medical Society Alliance and the Missouri State Medical Association Alliance
- Several students were published in the Anthology of Poetry
- Numerous students and classes won awards at the Southwest Missouri Language Arts Festival
- A SCS student placed 2nd in district competition of the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee
