Mrs Bankhead

Also with the lute I will praise You— And Your faithfulness, O my God! To You I will sing with the harp, O Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, And my soul, which You have redeemed. Psalm 71:22–23

6th Grade Band Info

Dear Parents,

We want to welcome you to the Springfield Catholic Band Program and hope you find this experience to be exciting and rewarding for your child. This letter is to provide you with some very important information concerning Beginning Band.

On Wednesday, August 24th, we are having a band night at Springfield Catholic High School. To assist with traffic jams I ask if your last name begins with A-K you time is from 6-7 pm; if your last name begins with L-Z you time is from 7-8. If you are unable to attend either of the times please email asap so alternate arrangements can made.

Springfield Music Company will be at Springfield Catholic High School to help select an instrument to play in band. They will have all the beginning instruments on display and will also be testing each of the students to find the absolute best suited instrument for each individual. After each student is tested for the instruments, Springfield Music will have everything you need to start band. Instruments will be available for rent or purchase, along with the required band books (Essential Elements 2000 and Excellence in Theory) and necessary supplies. The purchase of a wire music stand for home use is optional (that cost is $15.00). Mrs. Toler and I will be present at the display to help answer any questions you might have. There are several music stores in the area and instruments may be secured at any of the music stores. We do ask that you secure your instrument from a local reputable music store. If an instrument is secured through Springfield Music, they will make a donation back to the Springfield Catholic Music Department for each instrument rented. If you have secured an instrument that has not come directly from the music stores please see that it is in good playing condition by visiting one of the reputable repair shops.

Please have all instruments, book, and necessary supplies, and a pencil ready for band by Monday, August 29th, 2011. The book used for beginning band is Essential Elements 2000 book 1 and Excellence in Theory book1.

We look forward to meeting everyone and look forward to starting beginning band this year.

If you have any questions email Mrs. Bankhead at bbankhead@scspk12.org or Ms. Toler at ctoler@scspk12.org Mrs. Bankhead & Ms. Toler
