Please join us Wednesday, March 5 at 1:30 pm for our All-School Ash Wednesday Mass. We will gather in the gymnasium and we welcome visitors to celebrate with us. (Please note the time has changed from the original mass schedule).

Congratulations to the following students for placing at FBLA Districts Tuesday, February 18 :
Ben Morris, Ricky Morsovillo and Noah Boggs placed 1st place in Banking & Financial Systems
Joseph Russo and Courtney Ukena placed 4th and 5th in Computer Applications.
Noah Boggs placed 5th in Insurance & Risk Management
Mary Wichmer, Greg Morris and Daniel Davis placed 3rd in Hospitality Management and 5th in Sports & Entertainment Management
Tim Bentley & Brian Truong 4th place in Marketing
Ricky Morsovillo, Ben Morris, Noah Boggs, Courtey Ukena and Joseph Russo advanced to State Competition. They will represent SCHS in Columbia April 13-15.

Shaughnessy Advances to State Wrestling

The Fightin’ Irish wrestling team scored the most points in its three-year history at District competition last weekend. Kenneth Shaughnessy advances to State Competition in Columbia on Thursday.Congratulations to Kenneth, Coach Coleman and the entire wrestling team. Go, Irish!!
Andrew Curtis Performs In St. Olaf Christmas Festival

Andrew Curtis of Springfield recently performed in the annual St. Olaf College Christmas Festival in Northfield, Minnesota. Curtis is a member of the Chapel Choir . He is a Performance major. Curtis is the son of Dean and Cynthia Curtis and is a graduate of Springfield Catholic High School.
The St. Olaf Christmas Festival is one of the oldest musical celebrations of Christmas in the United States. Started in 1912 by F. Melius Christiansen, founder of the St. Olaf College Music Department, the festival features more than 500 student musicians who are members of five choirs and the St. Olaf Orchestra.
The festival, which is regularly broadcast nationwide on public television and radio, has been featured in hundreds of publications, including TV Guide, the Wall Street Journal, and the Los Angeles Times.
Fightin' Irish Soccer Takes 2nd Place Trophy in State Tournament

The SCHS Fightin’ Irish Soccer team was defeated 2-0 by John Burroughs following a hard-fought championship game on Saturday at Blue Springs High School. This was the Irish’ 5th consecutive year to compete in the state championship game. They defeated St. Pius X (Kansas City)2-0 in Friday’s semifinal game to reach the finals. The Irish have had a fantastic season and they finished second in the state of Missouri. Quite an accomplishment…go, Irish!

SCHS Math Students Compete at GPML

On Saturday, November 9, 97 students from 13 schools competed in the 2nd round of this year’s Great Plains Math League contests.
Results are as follows:
Sprint Round: 9th grade: Sarah Thompson 2nd
Michael Sallee 3rd
10th grade: Matt Wester 1st
Tim Bentley 2nd
11th grade Zoe Morrison 1st
9th grade: Tied for first: Sarah Thompson Peter Laurin Ben Laurin

Relay Team: Will Brabson, Matt Wester, Daniel Klinger 3rd
The third round will be hosted by Central on December 7, followed by Marshfield on January 14. All mathematics students are encouraged to join in the competitions.
Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams Take the Stage at State!

The Catholic girls’ cross country team placed 2nd and the boys’ cross country team placed 4th in the State Championship competition in Jefferson City on Saturday November 9. It was the first time in history that both teams made the trophy stand in the same year.
Kelly Devlin, Anna Galligos, Lydia Holtmann, Jacob Eck, and Neal Ukena were all-state performers and Senior Lydia Holtmann became the school’s first ever four-time all-state-runner; Kelly Devlin is a three-time all state performer.
Congratulations to both teams and their coaches…you make us proud to be Irish!

Courtney Ukena performed with the All-District Honor Choir in Bolivar on November 2. She is one of the top 25 sopranoes in our region. Congratulations, Courtney.
Freshman Emily Kroutil 8th in State Tennis Competition

A big Irish congratulations to freshman Emily Kroutil for her 8th place finish in the state tennis competition Saturday, October 26th. Emily was 1 or only 4 freshmen in the MSHSAA Class 1 state tournament which included 16 singles players and 32 doubles players. Medals were awarded at Cooper Tennis Complex on completion of the MSHSAA Class 1 Singles Tournament. Go, Irish!

SCRIP cards are now available for DELIVERY TO THE HIGH SCHOOL through Immaculate Conception Home and School! You can place your order on-line at ic.scriporder.com. Payment can be sent to school with your child or made on-line with a credit card. Orders/payments are due on Mondays by 8:15am and will be available for pickup at Immaculate Conception School on Thursday afternoons/Fridays or they can be delivered to your child the following Monday.
