SCHS Math Students Do Well in Great Plains Regional Competition at KC!
May 21st, 2012
Springfield Catholic High School math students took 3rd place in the in Small School competition at the Great Plains Math League Regional Competition in Kansas City on Friday, May 18. Ben Bowman, John Bentley and Greg Rudloff placed 1st in Power Question, John Bentley placed 2nd in Small School 11th grade and Daniel Klinger placed 5th in Small School 9th grade. Go, Irish!

Dallas Duncan had a four gold medal performance as the Catholic boys swept the relay events.

Fightin' Irish Golf Team Finishes a Great Season with State Competition

On April 24th, 2012 the Irish found themselves in the district playoff tournament at the Greene Hills Country Club in Willard. Only 2 of the 10 teams entered are allowed to advance to the sectional tournament. The Irish once again played well enough to post a 2nd place finish behind a strong Mt. Vernon team. On May 2nd, 2012 the Irish were the host team for the state sectional playoff at Payne Stewart in Springfield. Only the top 2 teams again get to advance to the state playoff tournament. The Irish clubbers were able pull of the 2nd place spot edging out a good Lamar team by only 3 strokes. This was good enough to send Coach East’s “Fabulous Five” to the big dance. The “Fabulous Five” players are Nick Gori, Tyler Johnson, Ben Wiles, Dallas Dean, and Lorenzo Catapang. The state championship tournament is held over 2 days and each player golfs 18 holes each day. This year the site was at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield. After the first day scores were in, the Irish saw that they were in 5th place just 7 strokes behind the 4th place team and 8 strokes behind 3rd. Trophies are given for 1st – 4th places at the state level. Looking for some hardware to bring home, the Irish posted a score that was 6 strokes better than their previous day. This was not enough and the Irish golfers finished the season in 5th place in the state! Junior Ben Wiles played very well both days and was honored as an all-state player. Ben finished in 13th place out of the 88 players involved in the tournament. Congratulations to Ben Wiles and the Fighting Irish golfers on yet another great season!
SCHS Advances to Regional Math Competition After Successful State Run!

Congratulations to Lauren Alexander, John Bentley, Ben Bowman, Daniel Klinger, Greg Rudloff and Nick Wiegers who competed in Columbia at the state Great Plains Math League. The team placed 4th in small schools and all students are eligible to compete at the regional level in Kansas City on May 18.
In Target, individual awards of 1st to Daniel Klinger, 4th to Greg Rudloff and 3rd to John Bentley.
In Sprint, John Bentley placed 3rd, Daniel Klinger 4th, and Lauren Alexander 5th. The team of Bowman, Bentley and Wiegers placed 5th and their team took 2nd in Relay. The students were accompanied by Mrs. Margie Wakefield.(See picture above)

The 2012-13 School Picture Schedule is now available. The link is posted below with the assigned dates/times for each student. If you will not be able to be photographed at your assigned time, please send an email to mlg@sothernstudio.com or call 866-0987 to be added to the schedule for one of the makeup days. It is necessary to make an appointment for a make-up picture.
In order to have ID cards ready for the first day of school, photographs must be taken in July.
