IMMACULA†E CONCEPTION SCHOOL

Dear I.C. Parents,
November 20, 2008
Yesterday the Home & School officers, along with students and teachers, had a
surprise “Principals’ Appreciation Day” after our All School Mass.
The bouquet of flowers and the gift certificate for dinner are deeply
appreciated. The handmade cards and
notes from the students are special treasures.
Reading through them made me smile and reminded me of how blessed I am to
work at this school. Of course, I
also recognized that some of your children have a promising future in the area
of public relations! Thanks to all for
helping to make this day extra special!
We are beginning the holiday season.
Thanksgiving is only a week away and the December calendar on the back of
this letter is filled with activities.
During these next few weeks we will be giving thanks, sharing gifts, and
bringing family and friends together to celebrate with holiday traditions.
Our nation’s current economic challenges
provide us with a perfect opportunity to refocus on the true meaning of
Christmas. Family activities and
doing for others can come without price tags.
You might consider starting a family tradition of gathering around the
Advent wreath in your home. As you
light your Advent wreath, you might want to discuss the significance of the
circular shape and how it symbolizes equality among people.
The circle represents unity, completeness – both attributes of God and
heaven. In this circle, all people
are equal and on the same level – they can share joys and sorrows, see each
other’s needs, and celebrate and work together.
When you focus on the special gifts God gives you and place less emphasis
on the material aspects of the season, you
can make an unexpected gift to your family.
May each of you have a happy Thanksgiving and enjoy time with your family and
friends. I continue to be thankful
for the opportunity to work at Immaculate Conception School and for the
privilege of working with your children each day.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our Breakfast with Santa on
December 7th. This is a
wonderful family activity of our Home & School and is a perfect opportunity for
a holiday tradition during the Advent Season!!
Blessings,
