Dear Parents,
It's hard to believe, but the end of the first quarter of the year is
here. I will be working on
finalizing your children's grades this week and will be sending home their
report cards next week before conferences.
You should have received the scheduled time for your child's conference
and I do want to remind you that I will be working with them about running their
conferences since they will need to be present for them.
This is a great opportunity to see your child tell you about their skills
and talents.
Today I am also sending home the evaluation sheets for their leaf book
projects with their graded work from last week.
There were many good projects, but I found that a number of the students
didn't follow the guidelines that were given out concerning how the projects
would be graded. For those that are
needing to do a little "fixing" of their projects, I have attached another
instructions sheet and am giving them two days to find the needed information.
I would appreciate your assistance in giving them some help with this so
that they can gain the needed points to improve their scores here at the end of
the quarter.
I would also like to let you know that we will be having a Halloween
party on Wednesday, October 29th.
This is due to the fact that the students will not be in school on the 31st for
conferences. Mrs. Pickens is
organizing the treats for us and would appreciate any donations you would like
to make. We are planning on putting
together several jars of candy for a "guessing" game contest and the winners
will get to take home the jars of candy.
We would also like to provide the students with some treats that
afternoon and if you can donate any items for that (candy, cupcakes, bottled
water), it would be appreciated. I
will be planning a small art project to do during the party and am looking for a
short (30 minute) Halloween cartoon video to enjoy as well.
I will be sending home a permission form for our next field trip by the
end of this week. We will be
traveling to the Dickerson Park Zoo on Wednesday, November 5th.
Our visit will involve a program concerning endangered animals and the
students will also have a scavenger hunt activity they will have to complete
while we are there. I will not need
drivers for this trip since we are taking a school bus, but I will need several
chaperones. If you can join us
please indicate so on the permission form.
