Welcome to 6^th Grade!                             

It is an exciting year with the Presidential Election fast approaching.  We will be learning about the process of electing a President as well as the important issues that our Country is focused on.  7^th and 8^th grade students will organize a debate and mock election that all Social Studies classes will participate in as interested voters.  

After a unit on China and the Olympics, we are beginning our textbook unit An Introduction to World History.  This unit begins with a review chapter on the tools of history and concludes with a chapter on the Roman Empire and its impact on our world.  In October we will visit Fantastic Caverns and participate in an archaeological dig with a CSI theme that fits in nicely with our unit.

I would like to say a big thank-you to all who purchased books from the book-fair.  We have some great new books for the classroom and any books purchased earn credit for books for our school library.

ITBS testing will begin October 6^th.  Please remember to have your child get plenty of rest and eat a good breakfast that week.  You may also send a healthy snack if you like (fruit, crackers, granola bar).
