Welcome to 6th Grade!
It is an exciting year with the Presidential
Election fast approaching.
We will be learning about the process of electing a President
as well as the important issues that our Country is focused on.
7th and 8th grade students will
organize a debate and mock election that all Social Studies classes
will participate in as interested voters.
After a unit on China and the Olympics, we are
beginning our textbook unit
An Introduction to World History.
This unit begins with a review chapter on the tools of
history and concludes with a chapter on the Roman Empire and its
impact on our world. In
October we will visit Fantastic Caverns and participate in an
archaeological dig with a CSI theme that fits in nicely with our
unit.
I would like to say a big thank-you to all who
purchased books from the book-fair.
We have some great new books for the classroom and any books
purchased earn credit for books for our school library.
ITBS testing will begin October 6th.
Please remember to have your child get plenty of rest and eat
a good breakfast that week.
You may also send a healthy snack if you like (fruit,
crackers, granola bar).
