HAPPY NOVEMBER
The students did a wonderful job at our Veterans Day Assembly. Way to go!!
Reading/Language Arts: We just finished one of my very favorite stories, Where the Red Fern Grows. The students loved it!! We will begin the story Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes later in the week.
Patricia Polocco is our "Author in the Spotlight". The students will be reading and listening to several of the stories written by Polocco. We will discuss them and do some interesting writing and art projects related to the books.
**I have been supplementing the reading curriculum with a diverse selection of literature that the children are really enjoying. Please continue to encourage oral and silent reading at home!
Math: In both grades we are working on place value, tables/graphs, number patterns, and addition/subtraction facts.
Social Studies: We learned many new things during the election season. We wrote about what it would be like to be President of the United States. We also wrote about our favorite candidates. Students learned about the duties of the President and also about the voting process.
Religion: Our second grade students are preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Please pray that their hearts will be open to receiving God's forgiveness in this special sacrament.
